Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Several family members want to appear in the same image. How should we dress?

A: One way to ensure a beautiful image is to let the personalities dominate the photo. For this to happen, clothing must be simple. Avoid combining dark clothing with light clothing. Stay away from clothing with patterns or trendy styles. It is best to dress similarly (like-colors) when in a group of two or more. If at all possible, avoid short-sleeved shirts.

Q: We love the idea of capturing the detail and personality of candid moments. How will you be able to chronicle the moments we spend in front of the camera without appearing staged or posed?

A: The first 10 to 15 minutes of each session are spent exploring surroundings together and getting to know one another within the setting. Visual Narrative style is to fall back into the landscape and snap away as you interact together. There may be instances when it is necessary for the photojournalist to make suggestions or encourage a special moment. Once everyone relaxes and begins to have fun, the shutter will start to snap naturally.

Q: I'm a natural woman - I tend to use minimal make-up and like my face well moisturized. Is this appropriate for capturing flattering images?

A: The very best conditions for capturing pleasing photos are: hydrated skin, natural-toned make-up, defined eyes and lips, well rested eyes, and joy in your heart!

Q: This week has me stressed and my face has broken out. Should I re-schedule my session? I don't want blemishes to show!

A: Of course not! Anything you'd like to have retouched in the final print should be communicated to the photojournalist during the session.

Q: What is the best way to schedule a session?

A: Please call or e-mail Visual Narrative to set up a convenient time.

Q: When is payment due?

A: Payment is required in two parts. The first part is a 50 percent non-refundable deposit to hold the date. The second part is the balance due the day of the session.

Q: We're so excited to recount the memories of our big day! When will our images be available to view online?

A: It is customary for images to be made available for online viewing within two weeks of the event. It is possible that images might be available sooner, but certainly no later. Visual Narrative is excited for you to see your images, too!
